SOAR MH-60 Command & Control
Photo taken during a 1994 exercise of a US Army MH-60 from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR),. This photo shows a MH-60a, configured as a command and control helicopter, as it takes off from the deck of a US Aircraft Carrier.. With its rear cabin packed full of secure communications and monitoring equipment, the C&C Black Hawk is designed to act as an airborne HQ for SOAR operations. Such helicopters were used by the SOAR to oversee actions in Somalia in 93, as depicted in the 2001 movie, Black Hawk Down.
