AH-64D Apache Helicopters
A 4-ship formation of AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopters assigned to Task Force Wolfpack take off from a forward operating base in Ghazni province, Afghanistan.
Note that U.S. Longbows operating in Afghanistan do not have the Longbow fire control radar domes fitted atop their main rotors. Not fitting the radar incrases performance in the hot air found in the country. The Apaches use their optical and infrared sensors to find and target insurgent foot soldiers on the ground and so not having a radar system designed to find tanks is no great loss.
