AH-64A Apache - FOB - Iraq 1991
AH-64A Apaches of the 101st Airborne Division prepare for action at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Southern Iraq, 1991. As Iraqi forces retreated from advancing allied ground forces, the 101st were airlifted deep into the Iraqi desert to set up a base from where the Apaches could operate from. This move effectively encircled several Iraqi armored divisions and prevented them from escaping unscathed.
